Editorial policy

Our goal is to help you reach the right tax agency and understand what may happen next—without pretending we can see or predict your individual refund.

Sources we rely on

We give priority to state departments of revenue, the IRS, the U.S. Treasury, and public consumer-protection agencies. Articles link to the sources behind important timelines and procedures so you can verify the details yourself.

How we review information

State pages are checked against the responsible agency’s published refund tool, contact page, and processing guidance. Educational articles are reviewed for clear distinctions between state and federal rules. We do not invent exact arrival dates when an agency only provides an estimate.

Independence

We are not affiliated with a tax agency or tax-preparation company. An outbound link does not imply an endorsement, and our editorial explanations are not written or approved by the agencies we reference.

Corrections and updates

Tax websites and procedures change. If you find an outdated link or factual error, email corrections@statetaxrefundstatus.com. Please do not include a Social Security number, refund amount, return, or other personal tax information.

What we cannot do

We cannot access your tax account, contact an agency on your behalf, speed up a refund, or give personal tax or legal advice. For a decision about your return, contact the agency shown in your state guide or a qualified professional.
